Financial Conditions
What the scholarship pays, by mobility type and level of study, and the conditions under which it is paid
The amounts below are the financial conditions of the EXCEL-PHARM scholarship, set out in the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme Call Document and the grant agreement. All amounts are in euro. The conditions that apply to you individually are stated in the scholarship agreement you sign before your mobility begins.
Monthly allowance by mobility
The monthly allowance is managed to cover subsistence, the travel ticket in and out of the host country, and accommodation.

In addition to the monthly allowance
- Settling-in allowance

- Insurance
- Health, accident and repatriation cover of €900 per year, provided by the project as the European Union requires.
- Tuition and host institution costs
- Any tuition fee or host institution cost your programme requires is covered by the project.
- Additional support for female scholarship holders
- A one-time payment of €500.
- Research support
- The amount depends on the nature of the research and the funds available. Agree it with your supervisor and your local coordinator.
- Support for scholars with special needs
- Special support measures, for example for persons with disabilities, are set according to the approved needs and the funds available. Raise this with your local coordinator before you accept a placement.
How and when you are paid
Payments are made through approved institutional mechanisms, and only into a bank account. Each payment depends on:
- confirmation of your arrival
- your registration at the host institution
- your academic participation
- satisfactory progress reports
The project buys your travel ticket, and the coordinator at your host institution arranges your accommodation. Both are deducted from your allowance. This arrangement can vary from one institution to another.
