Apply for an EXCEL-PHARM Degree-seeking Scholarship
Fully-funded degree-seeking mobility — pursue a full Master's (MPhil/MSc) or PhD degree at a partner institution
Degree-seeking scholarship applications are now open
EXCEL-PHARM degree-seeking scholarship applications for the 2026/2027 intake are open. This scholarship funds a full postgraduate degree — an MPhil, MSc, or PhD — at a consortium institution; it is not for credit-only exchange, traineeships, or staff mobility. Applying takes two steps: first secure admission to your chosen degree programme at its partner institution, then apply for the EXCEL-PHARM scholarship to fund your studies. Both can be done now.
Priority is given to applicants from Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Senegal. Females, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups are particularly encouraged to apply.

You submit two applications
EXCEL-PHARM funds a full postgraduate degree (degree-seeking mobility) at a consortium institution, so there are two separate applications — both are open now.
1. Apply for admission
Apply to your chosen university and degree programme directly, using each institution's own admission process. Eligibility for the programme is decided by the institution, not the scholarship committee.
2. Apply for the scholarship
Submit your EXCEL-PHARM scholarship application — including all supporting documents — here on this website.
Apply for the ScholarshipApply for admission at a consortium institution
Follow each institution's own admission process for the degree you want to study.
Who can apply
Target Group 1
Applicants registered at, or holding a degree from, a consortium institution. Most scholarships are awarded in this group.
Target Group 2
Applicants from outside the consortium institutions. A smaller number of scholarships are available.
NOTE: Candidates can only use the scholarship to study outside their own country.

How applicants are selected
Selection is based on academic merit together with gender, geographic, and institutional equity across the consortium.
-
Eligibility for the degree programme is determined by the institution, not the scholarship committee.
-
If you are awarded a scholarship but not admitted to the degree programme, the offer is withdrawn and given to a standby applicant.
-
All applicants are notified of the outcome by email. The names of successful applicants are published on this website.
-
Successful applicants receive an award letter and sign its terms and conditions.
-
Unsuccessful applicants may lodge an appeal within 10 days of the outcome.
